26 Health Solutions Under $25

26 Health Solutions Under $25

It’s expensive to be poor. That means that truly poor people seldom feel that they have the means to take good, preventive care of things, their cars, their homes, their bodies. Then, when the results of that inattention show up, it’s often as a problem that’s expensive to fix, requiring much more money and effort than all the maintenance would have.

When it comes to your health, you simply can’t afford to take that attitude. If your car falls apart, it’s possible to get a replacement. But when your body goes, there’s no second chance. That’s why I’ve offered solutions that anyone can fit into their budget, no matter how tight.

1. Immune support with sunshine. Routine exposure to sunlight helps your body generate vitamin D in your skin. It really doesn’t require that much exposure to reap the benefits; one 20-minute full-body exposure to the summer sun will result in putting 20,000 IU into the body within 48 hours. However, if you’re dark-skinned, older, obese, a vegetarian, or using sunscreen, sun block, or cholesterol-lowering drugs, you’ll probably get far less than 20,000 IU. And during the wintertime, you’ll need to add a vitamin D3 supplement (see Solution #18, below). Your cost: Free

2. Arthritis relief with PVC pipe. Every cell in your body has both a positive and a negative charge. An imbalance leads to malfunction and varying degrees of disease. Overactivity in an area, as occurs with inflammation, creates a positive electrical charge. You can create a negative charge by rubbing a piece of fuzzy material (found in craft stores, or as scraps) briskly along a short length of PVC pipe (available in hardware stores, or as free scrap from a friendly plumber). To treat an arthritic joint, move the charged PVC pipe slowly back and forth over the area, keeping it about a half-inch to an inch or so from the surface of the skin. After three or four passes, recharge the pipe by rubbing it against the material again. (If you happen to touch the pipe to your skin or other object in the process, you won’t get a shock, but you will need to recharge it again at that time.) Keep repeating the process until you feel relief. Most people begin to feel a noticeable improvement within five to seven minutes. Your cost: Free

3. Depression relief with exercise. The quickest and easiest way to relieve the symptoms of depression is through daily exercise. Numerous studies have documented the boost in serotonin levels from increased activity. The production of the compound continues for several days after the activity. Exercise is truly the “poor man’s antidepressant.” You don’t need to go overboard; just 20 minutes of vigorous movement a day will lift your mood, along with all the other benefits you get from regular activity. Your cost: Free

4. Stroke recovery with music therapy. In a Finnish study, stroke patients who listened to music of their choice for an hour a day fared significantly better than those who listened to audio books or had no audio stimulation at all. The music group had better verbal skills and attention focus, and reduced depression and confusion. Listening to music was especially helpful for those who had more severe strokes that prevented more active therapy. Listen to music on the radio, from your personal collection, or from the public library. Your cost: Free

5. Nausea relief with acupressure. Acupressure will help you relieve even the most stubborn cases of nausea, including morning sickness, motion sickness, and nausea caused by chemotherapy. Just put moderate pressure for about five minutes on the acupuncture point known as P6. Feel for the radius bone at the outside of your wrist (the thumb side); the point is located just inside the radius bone, and about two inches below the crease in either wrist. (To see the precise location, search images on the Internet for “acupuncture, P6.”) Nausea relief comes quickly, and you can repeat the procedure whenever you feel the need. Your cost: Free

6. Edema relief with lymphatic massage. Edema, or swelling of tissues, is often caused by an accumulation of lymphatic fluid, part of your body’s “waste-disposal” system that helps get rid of cellular debris and metabolic byproducts. And because lymphatic fluid isn’t circulated through your body by a pump the way blood is, it occasionally needs some help to stay moving. Lymphatic vessels are generally close to the skin, so lymphatic massage can get the lymphatic fluid moving and reduce edema fast. Begin on the affected limb close to your heart (in your armpit or groin). Using two fingers, massage very gently in small circles for a moment. Then move about four inches along the limb, and repeat. Continue until you’ve reached the wrist or ankle. You’ll notice results within just a couple days. Your cost: Free

7. Blood pressure reduction with proper breathing. Shallow breathing leads directly to higher blood pressure. Proper breathing produces normal, healthy changes in heart rate: higher as you inhale and lower as you exhale. The changes in heart rate create a natural rise and fall in blood pressure, making your arteries better able to respond to changes in circumstances. Inhale through your nose, allowing your diaphragm to rise, almost as if you’re breathing into your abdomen rather than into your chest. Exhale slowly through your mouth. Soon this will become your normal breathing pattern. Your cost: Free

8. Insomnia cure with light. You’ve heard the advice that you’ll sleep better when your sleeping space is completely dark at night. But you also need to be exposed to bright light during the day, to keep your internal day-night clock set properly. Even if you have to spend all day indoors, open the curtains or shades to let some sunlight in. Your cost: Free

9. Weight management with water. You can take off many pounds over the course of a year, just by drinking water. Within 10 minutes of drinking about a pint (16 oz.) of water, your metabolic rate will go up; within an hour or so your rate will be up by as much as 30%. The increased metabolic rate will burn more calories, leading to weight loss. Drink several glasses of water over the course of each day. Your cost: Free

10. Relieve back pain while you sleep. Your sleeping position can affect the health of your back. Sleep on your back or on your side, not on your stomach. When you sleep on your side, keep your knees together rather than having one leg thrown up toward your chest or out to the side. If you sleep on your back, keep your arms at your sides or on your stomach or chest, rather than over your head. Sleep position can be a hard thing to change, so if you sleep on your stomach try putting small pillows on each side. You can also place a small pillow between your knees if it’s uncomfortable to keep them together. Your cost: Free

11. Detoxification with cilantro. A major cause of disease is contamination of your body by heavy metals such as mercury, lead, and aluminum. Leaves of the coriander plant, also called cilantro, can accelerate the excretion of heavy metals from the body. Add a tablespoonful daily to soup, stew, or any other dish. Cilantro is easy to grow in a window box or herb garden. Your cost: $3 for a pack of seeds

12. Arthritis relief with bone broth. Not surprisingly, bones and cartilage from animals contain nutrients similar to those used in your own body’s bones and cartilage. Getting more of those nutrients provides support for your joints and ligaments. The simplest way to get those nutrients for yourself is to make a delicious, nutritious bone broth. Use leftover bones from a ham, steaks, or roast chicken or turkey. Begin by soaking the bones in water with a couple tablespoons of added vinegar or lemon juice for half an hour. (Be sure to use a glass or ceramic bowl for this, so the acid doesn’t leach metal.) Then follow the recipe in any good cookbook for making broth. Be sure to simmer for 6–8 hours, to extract all the goodness from the bones. Add your favorite vegetables toward the end of the cooking time. Your cost: $5 per batch for vegetables

13. Heartburn relief with chewing gum. Simply chewing gum more than doubles your production of saliva. Saliva contains a long list of compounds that protect your esophagus, including proteins, mucin, prostaglandin E2, and epidermal growth factor. Choose a gum that’s sweetened with xylitol to help keep your mouth healthy at the same time. (See Solution #25, below.) Chew a piece a couple times a day, before meals. Your cost: $5.50 per month.

14. Angina relief with zinc. High doses of zinc can get rid of angina pain. Nobody’s really sure why this works, but it does. Take 180–300 mg of zinc daily for 14 days. Look for zinc gluconate or zinc acetate, as lozenges or tablets. Zinc competes with copper for absorption, so when you’re taking this much zinc it can’t hurt to increase your copper intake as well, to 10 mg a day. Your cost: $6

15. Skin support with chia. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are an essential component of supple, healthy skin, and chia seed is about the most cost-effective source of EFAs available. You don’t even need to grind it before use the way you do with flaxseed; just sprinkle two tablespoons a day on cereal or a salad, or mix it in with yogurt or juice. Chia seed is available from sources such as Sam’s Club. Your cost: $6 per month

16. Potency improvement with L-arginine. Impotency (or erectile dysfunction) is often a result of poor circulation in the small arteries of the penis. The amino acid L-arginine helps your body produce the compound nitric oxide (NO), which works to expand those tiny vessels. Take 2–3 grams of L-arginine daily, in capsules or as a powder mixed into tea or juice. L-arginine is available from Puritan’s Pride online at: http://search.puritan.com/search?w=l%20arginine. Your cost: $7.20 per month

17. Blood sugar support with cinnamon. Adding cinnamon to your diet every day can cut your blood sugar level by up to 29%. Mix ¼ teaspoon into yogurt, or sprinkle it on your morning oatmeal. (Using more doesn’t appear to provide any additional benefit.) Research into cinnamon and blood sugar has used the cassia form, the type that’s sold in grocery stores. You can also buy cassia cinnamon online, from Puritan’s Pride at: http://www.puritan.com/natures-origin-brand-1068/ppcinnamon-500-mg500-mgmg1-057021?scid=32872. Your cost: $9 per year

18. Bone support with vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 helps your bones absorb dietary calcium. Get 4,000– 5,000 IU per day, either by spending time in the sun (which of course is free; see Solution #1) or by taking a supplement. Vitamin D3 is available from Sam’s Club. Get the highest IU amount available such as 5000 iu. Your cost: $13 per year

19. Sinus congestion relief with nasal irrigation. Salt water will clear out your sinuses quickly and effectively, whether you’re dealing with a sinus infection or allergies. Dissolve a teaspoon of salt in 16 oz. of water. You can put some of the solution in the palm of your hand and sniff it into each nostril. For more complete irrigation, use a neti pot. You can find neti pots from many sources online, and even pharmacies such as Walgreen’s. Instructions will come with the pot, or you can view how-to videos for using a neti pot on the Web at video sites such as YouTube. Your cost: $15 for a neti pot.

20. Headache relief with peppermint oil. Mix one ounce of peppermint oil into nine ounces of grain alcohol (sold in liquor stores as Everclear), and store in a covered container. Then whenever you have a headache put a couple dabs of the mixture on your forehead and on each of your temples. We don’t know why or how it works, but it does. The peppermint oil mixture will even stop a migraine in its tracks. Your cost: $15 for a bottle of peppermint oil and a bottle of Everclear.

21. Smoking cessation with vitamin C. Some time ago, research showed that an ascorbic acid aerosol could reduce the cravings for cigarettes and help reduce or eliminate the smoking habit. To make your own “poor man’s anti-smoking device,” fill a small spray mister bottle with 4 oz. of water and 1 gram of powdered vitamin C. Regularly throughout the day, especially when cigarette cravings occur, discharge a couple of squirts into your mouth and throat. Vitamin C powder is sold in most health food stores or can be ordered from sources such as iHerb.com. Your cost: $15 for vitamin C and a mister bottle.

22. Kidney stone prevention with lemonade. Many kidney stones are formed from excess calcium in the urine. Citrate can bind to the calcium in urine, and reduce or eliminate the formation of kidney stones. Ordinary lemonade is high in citrate, and drinking two quarts daily can cut stone formation by more than 80%. Mix 4 oz. of reconstituted lemon juice with 60 oz of water. Sweeten with stevia or xylitol if you like. Your cost: $15 per month

23. Immune support with XPC. Yeast-based supplements have long been used to support overall good health. The farm product XPC is made from fermented yeast, and in animals improves the production of several types of immune cells. It’s safe even for people who are sensitive to ordinary yeast. Sprinkle 2–3 grams (¾ teaspoon) a day into your breakfast. XPC is normally sold in 50-pound bags at farm and feed stores, but you can buy it in smaller amounts from repackagers such as Diamond Wholesales, at: http://4spectrum.us/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=363. Your cost: $18 per year

24. Wound healing with honey. The sugar in honey acts to draw fluid out of a wound. Honey also breaks down in contact with moisture to produce hydrogen peroxide, a natural antiseptic. For cuts, put a little raw local honey on the bandage before applying it to the wound. For larger wounds and sores, rinse the area with a saline wash, then impregnate a 2×2 inch bandage with honey (use a larger bandage if needed). Lay the bandage on the wound, then cover it with another clean bandage and secure as usual. Change the dressing daily. Your cost: under $20 for honey and bandages, even for larger areas.

25. Oral health improvement with xylitol. Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that inhibits the growth of bacteria that cause cavities. The longer it stays in contact with your teeth, the more effective it is. You can make a mouthwash by stirring a teaspoon of xylitol crystals into a few ounces of water. Swish the mixture around in your mouth for a minute or two, then swallow it or spit it out. Another method is to chew gum sweetened with xylitol. Chew a piece for half an hour, two or three times a day. Your cost: $22 per year for xylitol

26. Alzheimer’s improvement with niacinamide. In animal studies, doses of niacinamide equivalent to 250 mg six times a day essentially cured mice of Alzheimer’s, restoring their short term memory and making them functional again. If you can stand the bitter taste, you can buy niacinamide in bulk from sources such as www.purebulk.com. A healthy pinch mixed into water or juice will give you 250 mg. Do this six times a day. This regimen is more effective than taking larger doses less often, because niacinamide is water-soluble and flushes out of your body relatively quickly. Your cost: $25 per year

As you can see from the solutions above, it doesn’t take much money to keep yourself in good health. You just need to be resourceful, and take advantage of what’s available.

The First Steps to Stopping Snoring

The First Steps to Stopping Snoring

There are many different types of treatment options for snoring issues. Some of them are more practical while still others are very advanced and complex in nature. Whether you’re a subscriber to the no-nonsense approach of grandma’s advice or prefer the miracles of modern science, there are many popular remedies for snoring cessation.

The most often recommended do-it-yourself treatments for snoring are to lose weight and change the position in which you sleep. Sleeping on your back actually encourages the soft palate to relax, which can obstruct the airway and lead to snoring.

By training yourself to sleep on your side, you can sometimes eliminate this particular reason for snoring. Grandma had it right, however, when she came up with the idea of using a tennis ball.

By using a safety pin and placing a tennis ball into a sock (then attaching the sock to the back of your pajamas), you have created an uncomfortable position for sleeping. Your natural response will be to turn onto your side rather than sleep on the tennis ball. In time, it’s believed that you will have a natural tendency to sleep on your side rather than on your back and will no longer need the tennis ball.

Other home remedies for snoring include raising the head of the bed at least four inches. You can do this rather easily by placing rolled up towels below the mattress. This is believed to make breathing easier in addition to forcing your tongue and jaw slightly forward.

If you smoke, you need to quit – or at the very least cut back on the amount you smoke each day. You should also limit your exposure to second-hand smoke. In some lines of work, this is more difficult than others. However, the less you’re exposed to smoke or second-hand smoke, the more relief you’ll have from snoring.

Of course, not everyone has the same faith in home remedies – and some have a different or more severe cause for their snoring. There is no treatment that’s one size fits all (if that were the case there wouldn’t be so many treatments).

Nasal strips are another option that have become popular for those who wish to treat their own snoring problems or are simply desperate for their partner’s snoring to go away. In addition to the nasal strips, some manufacturers of snoring products also have a spray for the back of the throat. You should try both products before deciding to give up altogether.

If these things aren’t working for your snoring problems or those of your partner, you may have a more serious problem – such as sleep apnea. Under a doctor’s care, you can use oral appliances and facemasks to help combat the snoring problem and other related issues.

If you suspect sleep apnea, you should seek the care of a qualified medical professional immediately. This is a potentially life threatening illness that should not be ignored. Snoring doesn’t have to ruin your social life or place your partner in another room. You can combat the effects of snoring if you’re willing to make the effort.

Gentle Family Dentistry in Duncansville, PA treats snoring with an applianc that you wear at night. And, as stated above, no one treatment works for everyone. If you are interested in more information about snoring appliances contact Gentle Family Dentistry.

How to Quickly and Easily Get Rid of Kidney Stones

How to Quickly and Easily Get Rid of Kidney Stones

How to Quickly and Easily Get Rid of Kidney Stones

If you have ever had kidney stones you know how painful and debilitating they can be. But the American disease maintenance Association, formerly known as the AMA, will never tell you how to get rid of them at home without “seeing a doctor”.

Kidney stones are the result of consuming too much oxalic acid which your body then turns into oxalate crystals. Normally your kidneys do a good job of filtering out the oxalate crystals until they begin to grow into large clumps and then are known as kidney stones.

These oxalate crystals, now kidney stones, have a very rough surface resembling thousands of little knives which can very easily cause severe irritation to your kidneys and urinary tract.

Fortunately there is a simple and fast method that you can use that works most of the time to dissolve and eliminate the kidney stones within 24 hours.

My Coke and Asparagus Kidney Stone Cure

Here’s how it works…

If you have had kidney stones before you know what it feels like when the lower back pain sets in and you just know it your kidneys.

Here are your supplies: a 2 L bottle of Coke or Pepsi and 8 ounces of puréed asparagus.

The Coke or Pepsi can either be room temperature or chilled and the asparagus can either be room temperature or warmed.

1st thing next morning you are going to eat the puréed asparagus while drinking the entire 2 Liters of Coke.

Be prepared during the next 12 to 24 hours for plenty of pee trips to the bathroom.

Here’s how it works. The 2 Liters of Coke contains enough phosphoric acid to dissolve the stones. The asparagus acts as a natural diuretic causing you to pee. It’s really that simple.

Now who wants to lose days of work, go to the hospital and get those damn painful stones blasted or cut out of you?

How to Prevent More Kidney Stones

The obvious way is to limit the foods that contain or produce oxalic acid. Unfortunately that long list of foods contains some of our all-time favorites. Now I’m not suggesting that you cut out some your favorite foods, but here’s the list anyway.

Some of the biggest offenders include spinach, chives, purslane, cassava, amaranth, beets (particularly the tops), rhubarb, parsley, sweet potatoes, pokeweed, leeks, turnips, sugar beets, okra, strawberries, star fruit, lime and lemon peel, pecans, chocolate, tea, instant coffee, toasted wheat germ, dry beans (almost all except lima and green beans), soy protein (including soy milk), peanuts, peanut butter, and black pepper.

Of course, our Creator has already provided a natural herb that works to prevent the formation of oxalate crystals which form and to kidney stones. That herb is called Chanca Piedra or Phyllanthus niruri.

I get it from Swanson vitamins online at this link:

http://www.swansonvitamins.com/swanson-premium-chanca-piedra-phyllanthus-niruri-500-mg-60-veg-caps.

If you are prone to kidney stones I suggest you take one capsule every morning and be mindful to consume the foods listed above in moderation.

The Leading Cause of Kidney Problems

The Leading Cause of Kidney Problems

Especially in cold weather it’s important to ensure that our car’s cooling system has adequate antifreeze.

So, what does that have to do with kidney problems?

The primary ingredient in antifreeze is ethylene glycol, a colorless, odorless form of alcohol. Domestic and wild animals (and small children) are attracted to its sweet taste, but consuming it can be fatal. The underlying cause of its toxicity isn’t so much the ethylene glycol itself, but rather its metabolite, oxalic acid—also called oxalate.

Almost all kidney stones are formed from oxalate and another mineral, typically calcium. When one ingests antifreeze, the glycolic acid is metabolized into oxalic acid, which binds to calcium, forming calcium oxalate crystals. These razor-sharp crystals accumulate in tissues throughout the body, including the brain, bones, lungs, and kidneys. In antifreeze poisoning, the accumulation of oxalate crystals in the kidneys causes severe damage and kidney failure, resulting in death.

Antifreeze poisoning illustrates an extreme situation involving oxalate crystals. And although I’m not worried about you drinking antifreeze, there is a list of foods, not to avoid but, to consume in moderation.

And, before you get caught up in the green smoothie craze, there are a few things you should know.

The basis of most green smoothie recipes is spinach and most will include other green vegetables such as kale, arugula, Swiss chard, collard greens, broccoli, celery, or parsley. From there, the sky is the limit. All types of fruits and berries can be on the ingredient list, as well as soy milk.

Unfortunately, as most kidney stone sufferers well know, many of these foods are very high in oxalate and can increase kidney stone formation. In addition to spinach, some of the biggest offenders include chives, purslane, cassava, amaranth, beets (particularly the tops), rhubarb, parsley, sweet potatoes, pokeweed, leeks, turnips, sugar beets, okra, strawberries, star fruit, lime and lemon peel, pecans, chocolate, tea, instant coffee, toasted wheat germ, dry beans (almost all except lima and green beans), soy protein (including soy milk), peanuts, peanut butter, and black pepper.

You’ll notice that many of these foods are healthy and beneficial in moderation. But for individuals who can’t process oxalate and are susceptible to kidney stones, they can trigger problems quickly.

According to the National Kidney Foundation, the lifetime risk of kidney stones in men is 19 percent. In women, it’s 9 percent. And once you have formed a stone, the likelihood of recurrence is more than 50 percent at five years and 80 percent at 10 years. Roughly 3.5 million people in this country seek medical care for kidney stone removal each year.

Daily oxalate intake in adults averages 69–235 mg per day. In comparison, many green smoothie recipes typically call for two cups of spinach in addition to other high-oxalate foods. Two cups of spinach alone contain roughly 1,450 mg of oxalate. Daily oxalate intake skyrockets when you add other ingredients and/or substitute one or two meals a day with these smoothies.

See my article on this blog site about curing Kidney Stones, once you get them and preventing them going forward.

Who Is Poisoning Your Kids?

hypodermic_needle

Recent studies have established a definite link between the explosive epidemic of autism and a change that took place in the manufacturing of childhood vaccines.

Researchers in Seattle, Washington, looked at public databases containing vaccination records of all children born after January 1, 1970 who were later diagnosed with autism. (J Public Health Epidemiol 2014 Sep;6(9):271–86)

Before 1980 in this country, autism was rare. Researchers found this was also the case up until about 1990 in Western Australia and 1987 in the UK and Denmark. At those points in time, the researchers found a very significant change point, where levels of autism began to increase dramatically. And although their main focus circled around autism, they also saw the start of epidemic levels of other early onset neuro-developmental syndromes such as pediatric schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. (Acta Psychiatr Scand 2013 Jan;127(1):62–8) (Annu Rev Clin Psychol 2008;4:163–87)

The pharmaceutical industry, government agencies, and conventional medicine claim that autism is due to older parents are having children and, due to age, they have more genetic mutations that get passed on to their children, which can result in autism. But that excuse doesn’t hold up. Paternal age does not affect the rate of autism according to the data.

They did, however, discover a strong correlation between a change in the manufacturing of vaccines and the disorder.

Manufacturing Changes Are to Blame

The rapid increase in autism began when vaccine manufacturers switched from using animal cell lines to human fetal cell lines in the manufacture of the MMR (measles/mumps/rubella) vaccine. (This occurred in 1979 in the US.) It’s no coincidence that most other countries began to see their rates of autism take off around the time that human fetal cell line vaccines started being produced/introduced in their countries.

MMR was the first vaccine to utilize human fetal cell lines. They’re now also used in the polio, chickenpox, hepatitis A and B vaccines, and likely others. It’s probably not a surprise that, as the number of required vaccines have risen, the rates of autism and other neuro-developmental syndromes have, too.

In 1975, one child out of 5,000 was diagnosed with autism. The incidence doubled in 1985 to one in 2,500. Now estimates are as high as one in 50.

The autism rate among kids is higher in some areas than others (one in 45 in New Jersey vs. one in 175 in Alabama). I haven’t seen figures that confirm that more children receive vaccinations in New Jersey than in Alabama, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case. I also don’t know if there’s a connection between state per capita income and vaccination compliance. The latest figures I could find from 2012 showed Alabama ranked 44th out of the 50 states in per capita income, and New Jersey ranked second.

A recent Italian court case has uncovered documents related to the combination childhood vaccine called Infanrix, first used in Italy and now across Europe. The document contains data that was disclosed to regulatory authorities but kept secret from the public, indicating that this vaccine made by GlaxoSmithKline causes sudden death in children.

Then we have the flu vaccine called FluLaval, approved for use in people aged 3 and older. The information insert accompanying FluLaval specifically states, “there have been no controlled trials adequately demonstrating a decrease in influenza disease after vaccination with FluLaval.” In essence, GlaxoSmithKline admits that no evidence exists proving that the vaccine can prevent the flu.

In addition, the unsuspecting public seems to think mercury preservatives have been removed from vaccinations. But that’s not the case for many vaccines. The ingredient label for FluLaval clearly states that it contains thimerosal (mercury).

In 2014, a senior scientist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. William Thompson, admitted to omitting significant findings about a link between vaccines and autism in published research.

A Risk-Free Goldmine

I have little doubt that vaccine manufacturers are, and have been, aware of the link to neuro-developmental problems and will do whatever it takes to block and/or stifle any research in this area. After all, vaccine manufacturing has become a risk-free goldmine.

That happened in 1986 when Congress passed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, which led to the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. Contrary to the sound of it’s name, in reality, this program provides a legal shield to pharmaceutical companies that make all kinds of vaccines.

It has often been said, “If you want to find the corruption, just follow the money“. So, once again, Big Pharma has Congress’ blessings to indiscriminately poison and murder our children.

Cure Your Own Type 2 Diabetes Because The Drugs Don’t Work!

diabetes-cureCure Your Own Type 2 Diabetes Because The Drugs Don’t Work!

The FDA itself has just admitted that. But not in so many words. What they did admit was; “none of them have ever proven to save lives, and none of them have ever proven to cut the risk of diabetes-related complications such as blindness.”

The FDA also said saving lives, even IMPROVING lives isn’t the point. All a drug has to do to get approved is reduce blood sugar levels. BUT high blood sugar is a symptom, not a disease. Very few people die of high blood sugar alone. And 80 percent of diabetics die of heart problems not high blood sugar.

In fact according to the FDA; A drug can cut blood sugar and increase the risk of heart problems by as much as 30 percent and still get approved.

And you thought the FDA worked for the US government. They may have the typical lack of intelligence common to most govt. bureaucrats BUT they actually work for and answer to big Pharma.

Now, if you are on one or more of these expensive new Diabetes drugs, trying to tolerate the growing number of awful side effects because you’ve been led to believe that newer is better, your doctor, also working for big Pharma and not you, plans on keeping you on these drugs for life. However short that may be. So, Don’t Get Mad Get Even by Curing Yourself.

The Top Four Natural Diabetes Cures

Cinnamon: This spice can do more than add flavor to your oatmeal. Cinnamon is powerful medicine, used since ancient times, and modern science confirms it with studies showing that cinnamon can cut blood sugar levels by between 10 percent and 30 percent. As a bonus, it can slash your triglycerides and even shave a few points off
your BP.

But there’s a catch here and it’s a pretty big one: Cinnamon also contains a poison called coumarin. A little bit won’t hurt you. But in the amounts needed to lower blood sugar it is harmful.

Use a water-based cinnamon extract instead of a powdered supplement. There is no coumarin in that. Just look for the phrase “cinnamon extract” on the label.

Chromium: Takes on super powers inside your body. A small amount can tame the flames of raging blood sugar levels. Studies show that Chromium can decrease blood sugar levels by 15% – 30%.

Chromium will also protect your heart, boost your HDL (“good”) cholesterol and might even help you drop a few pounds. And it can do all that with NO side effects.

Berberine: Every diabetic knows and dreads the word metformin. It can leave you doubled over with pain as you blast from both ends with vomit and diarrhea, loud belching and noisy, stinky farts. But Berberine is better than metformin with no side effects, especially if taken in smaller doses throughout the day.

Turmeric: is so effective at cutting blood sugar levels that diabetics are warned NOT to take it with their meds because their glucose levels could fall too far. Because turmeric can do the work of drugs without the risks, you should insist that your doctor lowers your meds. 300 mg of turmeric per day for three months can improve hemoglobin A1c, blood glucose and insulin resistance.

So, if you are tired of paing big bucks to be a lab rat, then here is what you must do…

Combine these 4 natural cures with an all-natural low-carb diet, similar to the Atkins diet.

You can reverse your Type 2 Diabetes and cure yourself.

What’s the Best Teeth Whitening Method on the Market?

deep-bleaching-2With all of the advertising, how can you know what the “best teeth whitening method” is? You can find home remedies that boast of miraculous changes and you can find kits that promise results as fast as a single use.

How do you learn to separate the hype from the reality of what product can deliver on their promise? What you should consider is that most methods that you can buy are peroxide based products.

Years ago before peroxide was considered as an ingredient in the best teeth whitening methods, it was used on hair. What people would do is apply the peroxide to their hair and then go sit outside in the sun.

The combination of the peroxide and the sun’s rays would then work to lighten the hair. That’s because peroxide acts as a bleach and everyone knows to associate bleaching something with making it whiter.

So when you’re searching for the best teeth whitening methods, you’ll want to take a look at the product’s ingredients. You’ll want to see how much peroxide is actually in the product. Some products only use 3% peroxide while others use more. You’ll also want to figure up how long you have to use the product in order to see better looking teeth.

However, you won’t find the best teeth whitening method anywhere on the market. That’s because the best teeth whitening method is a proprietary method designed by a dentist who specializes in teeth whitening.

The best teeth whitening method anywhere is called Deep Bleaching. Most dental practices don’t do or even know about Deep Bleaching.

At Gentle Family Dentistry they offer a refined form of Deep Bleaching and can make your teeth Hollywood white.

If you are ready for Hollywood white teeth then call Gentle Family Dentistry to make an appointment for a free evaluation to see if you would be a good candidate for Deep Bleaching.

The best candidates for Deep Bleaching are people who fall into the following categories:
● those with few or no fillings in their front teeth
● those with little or no gum disease
● people who floss daily or at least regularly
● people who see their friendly dental hygienist every 6 months

But, there are many folks outside of that group who will still qualify.

If you want to find out if you qualify for Deep Bleaching call Dr. Locker at Gentle Family Dentistry today and wait no longer for beautiful Hollywood white teeth.

Fibromyalgia – What Your Doctor Won’t Tell You

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is the name given to chronic, widespread muscular pain that has no obvious cause. The pain, usually described as aching, stiff, burning, or throbbing, may appear in any location of the body, but for a diagnosis of fibromyalgia to be made, you must have pain in at least eleven of eighteen specific “tender points.”

The tender points for fibromyalgia exist in pairs (one on the right side of your body and one on the left) at the following locations:
• Base of the skull
• Base of the neck
• Upper chest, a little more than an inch below the collarbone
• Along the top of the shoulder
• Upper back, close to the spine and about an inch below the preceding set of points
• Inside of the elbows
• Lower back, close to the dimples above the buttocks
• Upper outside edge of the thigh
• Inside of the knees If you are testing yourself for a reaction to these points, you must touch them with enough pressure to whiten your fingernail. A doctor who is knowledgeable in the diagnosis of this condition can test these points for you.

The pain from tender points and elsewhere in the body usually feels most severe upon waking and gradually lessens as the day goes on.

Although the pain of fibromyalgia alone can be so severe as to render its victims disabled, the disease can be complicated by any of several other problems. Fibromyalgia is closely linked to chronic fatigue syndrome, and many of its sufferers experience symptoms similar to those of chronic fatigue syndrome (see the symptom Iist further on). Irritable bowel syndrome, premenstrual syndrome, palpitations, and temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ) may also be present.

FibromyalgiaAs with chronic fatigue syndrome, there is currently no one agreed-upon cause for this disease. In most cases, many factors combine to produce the varied components of fibromyalgia. Disordered sleep is a very common problem with this condition. The length and the quality of sleep must be improved for long-term success in most cases of fibromyalgia. Also, hormone imbalance is quite common. Particularly, low thyroid function and imbalances in estrogen/progesterone, as well as in the stress hormones DHEA and cortisol. Digestive function and detoxification usually need improvement to help people with fibromyalgia. Along with this digestive weakness come leaky gut syndrome and candida overgrowth, as well as general dysbiosis. Chronic infections that include viruses can be a factor. Food allergies are a significant contributor for some people, especially allergies to wheat, sugar, and cow’s milk. As well, nutritional deficiencies, of magnesium, B vitamins, coenzyme Q1O, L-carnitine, and several others, are very common. We have also found that many people with fibromyalgia have a brain chemistry imbalance. Using natural therapies to balance serotonin and other neurotransmitters results not only in a better mood but in less muscular pain. Toxic elements, such as lead, mercury, arsenic, and others, can also be one of the root contributors to fibromyalgia. These toxic elements interfere with the normal enzyme and cell function in the body. In addition, blood-sugar imbalances worsen pain and inflammation. Many people develop symptoms of fibromyalgia after a car accident, and thus structural abnormalities must be addressed through physical therapies. Chiropractic, osteopathic, and craniosacral therapy; physiotherapy; and sometimes massage are very helpful in reducing pain.

In essence, all of these potential imbalances lead to a defect in how the cells produce energy. Normally, the “energy-producing plant” of the cells, known as the mitochondria, produces efficient energy for the cells of the body. When a defect occurs in mitochondrial metabolism, it can lead to a shortage of energy for the muscle cells and other tissues of the body, resulting in fatigue and pain. Mitochondria require organic acids that are intermediaries in metabolic pathways in the body that create energy. Researchers have found that people with fibromyalgia often have imbalances in these organic acids. To correct this problem, one must address the root causes, as have been described. Fortunately, a comprehensive natural approach to fibromyalgia is very effective in eliminating the pain or greatly improving it.

SYMPTOMS

For a diagnosis of fibromyalgia to be made, two factors must be present:
• Unexplained, widespread pain that lasts at least three months
• Pain in at least eleven of the eighteen tender points when gentle pressure is applied

Many other symptoms may exist alongside the pain, including the following:
• Fatigue fibromyalgia
• Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
• Sleep disturbances
• Temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ)
• Irritable bowel syndrome
• Anxiety
• Heart palpitations
• Depression
• Heightened sensitivity to loud noises, bright lights, and changes in the weather
• Difficulty concentrating
• Memory problems
• Dizziness
• Headaches
• Tingling of the skin or other odd sensations

ROOT CAUSES

• Sleep disorder (fibromyalgiaincluding apnea)
• Allergies or sensitivities to certain chemicals, food, or the environment
• Chemical imbalance in the brain, especially of serotonin
• Virus (especially Epstein-Barr, HHV-6, cytomegalovirus)
• Hormone imbalance
• Damage to cells by free radicals (oxidative stress)
• Poor digestion and detoxification
• Toxic metals
• Blood-sugar imbalance
• Candidiasis and parasites
• Nutritional deficiencies, especially of minerals
• A build-up of phosphate or uric acid
• Structural abnormalities (spine and soft tissues)
• Emotional stress
• Overexertion

Testing Techniques

The following tests help assess possible reasons for fibromyalgia:
• Chronic infection (human herpes virus type 6 [HHV-6], cytomegalovirus [CMV), Epstein-Barr virus [EBV] ➜ blood
• Blood pressure ➜ blood pressure cuff
• Hormone testing (thyroid, DHEA, cortisol, testosterone, IGF-1, estrogen, progesterone) ➜ saliva, blood, or urine
• Intestinal permeability ➜ urine
• Vitamin and mineral analysis (especially for magnesium, B1, B12, iron, and CoQ10) ➜ blood
• Digestive function and microbe/parasite/candida testing ➜ stool analysis
• Food and environmental allergies/sensitivities ➜ blood, electrodermal
• Blood-sugar balance ➜ blood
• Toxic elements (such as mercury, arsenic, etc.) ➜ urine, hair
• Cellular energy (organic acids) ➜ blood or urine
• Amino acids ➜ blood or urine
• Detoxification profile ➜ blood or urine

TREATMENT

Diet

Recommended Foods

Follow a sound diet that is based on whole, unprocessed foods. Emphasize raw or lightly cooked vegetables, especially greens, and other foods that are high in nutrients and fiber.

To keep up a steady supply of energy to your muscles, eat lots of lean protein: beans, raw nuts, soy products (fermented only), fish, chicken, and turkey are all good sources and plan on several meals throughout the day, instead of three large ones.

Eat some live unsweetened yogurt or other cultured food daily to combat candidiasis.

Omega-3 fatty acids help the body create prostaglandin, a hormone that reduces inflammation. Flaxseeds and flaxseed oil, as well as fatty fish, are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

Fibromyalgia has been linked to a magnesium deficiency, so make sure to consume foods that are high in this mineral, including green leafy vegetables, kelp, soybeans, cashews, and almonds.

Vitamins A, C, and E together help fight free radicals, whose presence may inhibit cells’ ability to produce energy. For vitamin A, eat plenty of colored vegetables (especially the green, leafy ones) and milk. Good sources of vitamin E are soybeans, broccoli, brussels sprouts, whole grains, and, again, green leafy vegetables.

Drink a glass of clean water every two waking hours. You’ll flush out toxins and reduce pain.

Foods to Avoid

Determine whether a food allergy is causing or contributing to your pain. Read about Food Allergies and follow the elimination diet there or have a nutrition oriented doctor test your food sensitivities or allergies.

Mineral deficiencies have been linked to fibromyalgia, so avoid caffeine, which interferes with their proper absorption. Caffeine also contributes to sleep disturbances.

Reduce or cut out fried and junk foods. They contribute to inflammation and pain, as well as to insomnia; in addition, they slow your circulation and deplete your stores of energy.

AVOID SUGAR. It increases pain, weakens the immune system, disturbs sleep, saps your energy, and encourages the growth of Candida albicans, a fungus that some believe is a cause of fibromyalgia. The most common sources of sugar are sodas and processed food, but you also need to severely restrict your intake of natural sugars, like honey and even fruits.

Dramatically reduce your intake of processed food and carbonated drinks. These items are full of food additives that will only aggravate your condition.

Detoxification

A detoxification program can help improve cellular energy production. Follow the previous dietary suggestions, especially regarding fiber and water intake, and try these additional recommendations:

Follow a juice fast for three days for an initial cleanse, but limit your intake of sweet fruit juices. Instead, use vegetable and green drinks, along with unsweetened lemon or cranberry juice.

Seven Super Prescriptions for Fibromyalgia

Super Prescription #1 Magnesium Take 250 mg two to three times daily. Magnesium glycinate and magnesium aspartate are the preferred forms. Magnesium is important for cellular energy production and relaxes the nerves and the muscles.

Super Prescription #2 Malic acid Take 1,000 to 1,200 mg twice daily. Malic acid is important for cellular energy production.

Super Prescription #3 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) Take 50 to 100 mg three times daily. This amino acid is a precursor used by the brain to manufacture the neurotransmitter serotonin, which reduces pain, improves sleep, and improves mood.

Super Prescription #4 Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) Take up to 10,000 mg daily in divided doses. Start with 1,000 mg three times daily, and increase the dosage until pain relief is evident. Reduce the dosage if diarrhea occurs.

Super Prescription #5 S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) Take 400 mg twice daily. SAMe is a naturally occurring nutrient that improves the balance of neurotransmitters such as serotonin; improves detoxification; and helps with cartilage formation.

Super Prescription #6 Vitamin B12 Have your doctor inject you with 1 cc twice weekly for four weeks and then once weekly or as needed. It can also be taken in the sublingual form, up to 1,000 mcg daily of the methylcobalamin form.

Super Prescription #7 Enzymes Protease enzymes taken on an empty stomach have an anti-inflammatory and pain relieving effect. Take as directed on the container.

A double-blind, placebo-controlled study of fifty people with fibromyalgia looked at the effect of 100 mg of 5-HTP, taken three times daily for thirty days. In people supplementing with 5-HTP, significant improvement was found in their pain severity, morning stiffness, sleep patterns, anxiety, and fatigue.

A double-blind trial involving 800 mg of SAMe (S-adenosylmethionine) per day for six weeks found significant benefit for people with fibromyalgia in regard to pain, fatigue, stiffness, and mood. SAMe has been shown in numerous studies to also be effective for depression and osteoarthritis.

• Pericardium 6 relieves anxiety, indigestion, and heart palpitations.
• Bladder 38 quiets tension and promotes sleep.

Other Recommendations

Accupuncture has a good track record of relieving fibromyalgia pain. Search for agencies that can provide you with lists of qualified acupuncturists in your area.

Bodywork

Many fibromyalgia sufferers have found that bodywork is quite helpful for easing pain and stress. Try several of the following techniques, as everyone responds differently…

Chiropractic or Osteopathic Manipulation: This improves structural alignment and nerve flow.

Massage: A gentle all-over massage eases pain and brings down stress levels. Lymphatic drainage massage supports the immune system by detoxifying the tissues. This kind of massage is especially supportive during a fast.

Reflexology: Because fibromyalgia is a systemic, whole-body disease, it is best to work the entire foot, with special attention to the parts corresponding to the areas of your body that hurt.

Hydrotherapy: Hot or warm water can feel wonderful to fibromyalgia sufferers. Try taking a hot shower in the morning, when the pain is likely to be at its worst; at night, when you might have trouble sleeping, try a warm bath. Saunas and heated compresses are other pleasant ways to relax your muscles. Constitutional hydrotherapy is a good long-term treatment.

Other Bodywork Recommendations

Postural therapies, such as the Feldenkrais method and the Alexander technique, help you move with greater ease and less strain. They are a good option for sufferers who can tolerate only the gentlest treatments. Contact a local specialist to learn more.

Aromatherapy

Add oils to a bath for additional pain-relieving qualities. Chamomile, lavender, and rosemary will reduce inflammation, and black pepper, ginger, and eucalyptus stimulate circulation and blood flow to the muscles.

If you don’t have access to a bathtub, here’s another way to use any of the previous oils: Add 25 drops of the oil to 2 quarts of boiling water. Soak several strips of cloth in the mixture, and let them cool to a comfortably warm temperature. Wrap the cloths around the painful area.

Juniper and melissa oils help break down toxins. Add them to a base oil, and use it as a detoxifying supplement to a lymphatic massage.

To reduce stress, experiment with a number of oils until you find the ones you like best, then alternate them so that you don’t become inured to their effects. Some good choices to begin with are chamomile, jasmine, lavender, and rose. Almost any preparation method will work (except a straight application to the skin), but for all-day stress relief, you might like to diffuse the oil into the air of your office or room.

Stress Reduction

General Stress-Reduction Therapies

Consider positive mental imagery, meditation, and prayer a first line of defense against the symptoms of fibromyalgia. Regular meditation is both refreshing and calming. It improves your concentration and memory and, when used just before bedtime, can help you sleep. Biofeedback helps you learn to improve the way your body responds to stress.

It’s not a bad idea to supplement your daily meditation with a yoga class once or twice a week. Yoga relaxes your body and mind, improves digestion, and can ease both joint and muscle pain.

Bach Flower Remedies

• Consult Bach Flower Remedy charts to find the best remedy for your personal situation. Once you’ve chosen a remedy, place 10 drops of the liquid under your tongue. Hold the drops in place for thirty seconds and swallow. Use as often as needed.
• Rescue Remedy is available in cream form. When your pain is particularly acute, rub a little of the cream onto the affected area.
• If you are overexerted and burned out, take Hornbeam.
• Aspen is for people with vague, un-namable fears that result in insomnia or nightmares.
• Olive is the remedy for people who are so exhausted that daily life is robbed of all pleasure.
• lf you have given up the belief that you’ll ever feel better again, try Gorse.

Other Recommendations

• Magnet therapy can be helpful to reduce pain. Work with a practitioner who is knowledgeable in this area.
• Moderate, nonjarring exercise is one of the best treatments for fibromyalgia.
• Daily exercise for half an hour (a brisk walk or a swim are excellent choices) is far preferable to less frequent but more vigorous workouts. Studies show that people with fibromyalgia who exercise regularly have less symptoms than those who are inactive. Get adequate rest. Most of us need at least eight hours a day; if you need more, however, by all means take it. Overexertion will only aggravate your symptoms.

Soy Is like Steroids for Breast Tumors

soy

Today’s vegetarian extremists should hightail it out of the health industry, and stick to what they’re REALLY good at — making bumper stickers.

Yet ANOTHER study is proving that a disgusting “food” they’ve been forcing down our throats for years is little more than a mouthful of murder.

Researchers from Memorial Sloan Kettering have shown that your soy-laced tofu salad might not just be leaving you hungrier than a hibernating bear. It turns out that tasteless garbage is practically STEROIDS for breast tumors too!

Women with early-stage breast cancer spent only TWO WEEKS taking a daily soy supplement, but it may have given them a permanent vacation from good health. Just 14 days of soy was all it took to activate a key gene that’s been linked to tumor growth and aggressive cancer.

You see, soy is loaded with chemicals that mimic estrogen in your body and can act like rocket fuel for existing tumors — even tumors that should NEVER have been dangerous in the first place.

SoyThat’s right, despite all the health-food hype, soy isn’t saving the world — but it may be making it a lot less crowded.

No doubt this news won’t stop the vegan crowd from continuing to sling soy like it’s manna from heaven. After all, this isn’t the first time research has proven that soy is bad for your health.

Soy has already been linked to dementia, and research has revealed it can even turn fellas from studs to duds in the sack. A major Harvard study found that eating just ONE SERVING OF SOY PER DAY can cut your sperm count in half!

That means that vegans are going to have an awfully hard time reproducing.

If you kicked the soy habit years ago, you still may be at risk. Soy is used as cheap filler in many of the processed and packaged Frankenfoods you’ll find at your local supermarket. Even your favorite cookies and crackers could be loaded up with hidden dangerous levels of soy!

Ditch the soy silliness for good before you eat your way straight to the grave. Stick to a fresh foods, low-carb meat-and-veggie diet — and maybe we can start printing our own bumper stickers to set the veg-heads straight for good.

I was thinking of starting with “Meat Me For a Steak.”

For some time now, osteoporosis has been defined by low bone-mineral content (low bone density). So drugs treating osteoporosis have been developed to preserve the mineral content of bones.

But it turns out that boosting your bone density is only half the picture—in fact, if you’re mineralizing your bones without addressing the underlying structure, you could actually be increasing your risk of fracture.

Thankfully, this new breakthrough supports the whole spectrum of bone health—by actually helping to rebuild the very structure of your bones. And it’s the very first supplement of its kind to do so.

Why Just Increase Density When You Can Actually Rebuild Bone?

The strength of your bones is about more than density—it’s about the integrity of the bones’ architecture—the bone matrix. In fact, after the age of 50, the bone matrix declines before bone density, leaving bones weak and fracture-prone.

And the continued strength of that matrix comes from a process called bone remodeling. Bone is living tissue that is constantly being broken down and rebuilt. Osteoclast cells remove old and damaged bone tissue, then osteoblasts and osteocytes create a new bone matrix—the web-like architecture of bone. This matrix incorporates minerals to give bone its density and hardness. The process ensures your bones’ structural integrity. This reduces your risks of fractures and osteoporosis.

During your younger years, the remodeling process leans toward bone formation, increasing bone growth until peak bone mass is reached around age 30. In your mid-thirties, the rate of removal of weak bone starts to exceed that of new bone formation, meaning that you’re slowly losing bone over time. The bone matrix (sort of the frame the bone is built upon) weakens. If you’re taking supplements to mineralize and increase bone density, this hardening of partially formed or incomplete bone matrix means your chances of fracture are greater.

Once you hit menopause, lower levels of estrogen and progesterone start to affect the process of bone remodeling. Bone tissue starts to go through the turnover process at a higher rate—increasing fracture risk by decreasing matrix quality without having much effect on density.

Inflammatory agents that increase resorption (the breakdown of old bone cells) and suppress bone formation are no longer kept in check by estrogen. Because of this, you could actually lose up to 20% of your bone mass in the first five to seven years after the onset of menopause.

Up until now, women have been increasing bone density with calcium and vitamin D supplements. But this does nothing for the remodeling of the bone matrix. Fortifying a weak matrix doesn’t change the matrix itself—meaning bones are still weak despite your best efforts.

This is where Other supplements come in.
Rev up your body’s bone-building cells …

Recently, there’s been a shift. The new thinking is that certain body chemicals—scientists call them “biochemical markers”—tell us more about a woman’s osteoporosis risk. Bone density tests only measure 20% of the skeleton, but these biomarkers show what’s going on with the whole thing, as well as with the bone remodeling process. They hint at turnover rate, formation of bone, resorption of bone, and formation of new bone.

The level of the hormone osteocalcin (OC) is especially telling. This hormone controls the deposit of new bone. As osteoclasts destroy old bone, OC is released into the bloodstream. The more OC in the bloodstream, the faster the turnover of bone—and the higher your risk of fracture.

In clinical trials, 77 postmenopausal women—45 with metabolic syndrome and 32 who were generally healthy participated. Both the trial group and the control group were instructed to follow a Mediterranean diet and exercise aerobically 150 minutes per week. Both groups did those things, but while the trial group also took Four Bone-boosting Powerhouse Substances twice daily. None of the subjects took calcium supplements or a multivitamin that might have contained calcium and/or vitamin D3 during the 14-week trial period.

At the beginning of the trial, both groups had elevated OC levels, indicating an increase in bone turnover rate and an increased risk for osteoporosis. At the end of the trial, the levels had gone up by 16.4% in the control group. The trial group, however, saw a significant decrease of 31%. Among women with metabolic syndrome, the increase in the control group was even higher (22.6%), but the trial group saw the same decrease as the women without metabolic syndrome.

The other biomarkers associated with bone remodeling and osteoporosis showed impressive results. P1NP, a marker of bone formation, significantly increased with use of Four Bone-boosting Powerhouse Substances, and significantly decreased in the control group. And IGF-1, a marker for vertebral fracture risk in postmenopausal women, increased significantly with the Four Bone-boosting Powerhouse Substances (by 21.2%), which means they faced lower risk of fracture. The control group saw a decrease of 13.1%. An increase in IGF-1 in women with low estrogen is very impressive.

Serum vitamin D3 went up by 16.2% in the test group and decreased by 14.6% in the control group over the course of the trial.

As part of the trial, researchers also looked at estrogen levels. They found that these levels didn’t change on an observable level, meaning that the positive effects on the bone-remodeling-related biomarkers didn’t have anything to do with estrogen—it was all due to these Four Bone-boosting Powerhouse Substances.

Overall, researchers concluded that a combination of the low-glycemic Mediterranean diet, exercise, and the Four Bone-boosting Powerhouse Substances positively affected bone remodeling in postmenopausal women with low estrogen levels. They suggest that you could gain even more positive results with mineralization support and weight-bearing exercise.

The Four Bone-boosting Powerhouse Substances

The benefits of these Four Bone-boosting Powerhouse Substances come from a quartet of natural agents that are proven bone savers.

Rho iso-alpha acids (RIAA), derived from hops, modulate substances involved in bone degradation. Inhibition of these substances has been shown to promote bone formation and prevent the inflammation that accelerates bone loss.

Berberine acts in a similar way. It inhibits the activity of osteoclasts, the cells that take part in the breakdown of bone tissue. It’s also been suggested that berberine can positively influence the formation of osteoblasts, cells that build up bone tissue.

Then there’s Vitamin D3, which you know for going hand-in-hand with calcium. In addition to helping the body absorb calcium for mineralization of bone, it also plays a role in regulating bone turnover. Low vitamin D3 intake has been linked to increased fracture risk and increased rates of bone loss.

Finally, Vitamin K2 plays a major role in the metabolism of bone proteins that are central to bone quality, integrity, and support of overall bone mass. Regular intake of vitamin K2 has been linked with increased bone mineral density; it also has been shown to have a positive effect on bone remodeling.

Vitamin K2 may interact with a common blood thinner, Coumadin (wayfarin sodium). If you are taking this medication, contact your physician before starting on Vitamin K2. Too much vitamin K2 in a high-dark-green-leafy-vegetable diet and/or from supplementation can excessively thicken blood. If you have a tendency toward forming blood clots or need to thin your blood for other reasons such as coronary artery disease, contact your physician before taking Vitamin K2.

These four all-natural substances can generally be used without serious adverse effects. Combined, the four components help your body actually rebuild bone, instead of just increasing the density of bone that is already there.
